FMM Project-a-thon Workshops

This workshop is an opportunity to stretch, to explore your abilities, improve your skills, to deepen your understanding and expand your appreciation for the process of making films and telling stories. This 5-week workshop is for new and experienced producers, directors, writers, film and video makers who want to "fast track" their projects into the world by taking a business oriented (but highly creative) approach to financing, production, marketing and distribution.

We will cover budgeting, negotiating techniques, how to prepare for a pitch session, how to structure various deals, and the legal obstacles filmmakers should avoid. You will also leave with handouts and resources including samples of contracts, budgets, deals, agreements and a game plan to "get it made".

At Florida Media Market, you will have the unique chance to present your project, discuss it with a group of peers within the industry that can give you valuable input. You must be ready to take constructive criticism and make a commitment to work hard on your craft during the workshop's 5 weeks.

Our Upcoming Project-A-Thon will take place each Saturday from February 2nd to March 1st (10am-5pm)

Fiscal Sponsorship Program

Fiscal sponsorship is a fundraising tool for filmmakers seeking funds for a current film project. Fiscal sponsorship through the Florida Media Market (FMM) benefits you when a donor or grant requires you to have nonprofit status, or you want to offer potential contributors the ability to write off their donation on their taxes.

Rather than establishing your own tax-exempt status for a film/video project or production company, individual filmmakers may contract for FMM to act as fiscal sponsor to extend tax-exempt status to that specific project to the fullest extent of the law.

As fiscal sponsor FMM simply lends its nonprofit status to your project without infringing on the creative process, and you retain all rights. There is a small administrative fee to cover costs of bookkeeping, check distribution, fiscal reporting to funders, and other technical assistance. We do require filmmakers to submit proof that the money disbursed is spent on the designated project

This program will be in effect once the 501 (c) (3) status is in place.
