The Global Film And Media Market Conference—Coming To South Florida This Fall—Is Now Open For Registration

MIAMI, July 03, 2007 – Aspiring and established film and TV makers can now register online for the Global Film and Media Market Conference at www.floridamediamarket.com. The Florida Media Market-produced event will take place at the Alexander All-Suite Oceanfront Resort from October 18-21, 2007 in Miami Beach. Room reservations can be made by calling the Alexander Hotel, located at 5225 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach at 1-800-327-6121.

For the second time in as many years, entertainment companies, executive program developers, distributors, independent producers, executive producers and financiers will meet to network, learn, teach, share ideas and build new business relationships.

The conference features three tracks:

  • Track 1: “Let’s Make a Deal” - more than 200 top media executives from more than 13 countries will be present to buy and sell media products and for one-on-one pitch sessions.
  • Track 2: “Teach me something I don’t already know” - educational workshops and clinics featuring experts who will share best practices and education on working in Latin America, the United States, Asia and Europe; in addition to workshops on marketing and advertising, financing, international project management and multi-lingual content creation.
  • Track 3:  Independent Showcases - independent content creators will be given the opportunity to showcase and demo their work to both television and film producers who will be visiting the showcase in search of content and new ideas. This showcase will also include pitching sessions and screenings.

The Global Film and Media Conference also features an Opening Night Celebration with live entertainment, networking breakfasts and lunches. The conference will conclude with the Awards Brunch on Sunday, October 21st where the winners of the various competitions will be announced.

Maritza Guimet

Maritza Guimet is an accomplished director, writer, producer with over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry. Originally from Peru, she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting; she eventually realized that her true passion lived behind the scenes. She moved to Miami and worked at the Miami Beach Film and Print Office as an Assistant Coordinator working with high profile projects such as "The Birdcage," "Pronto," and "Too Much". Guimet has been key in the development of many productions in South Florida, and has worked on many feature films, television programs, music videos, Telenovelas and commercials. Clients include PBS, BET, Island Records, Caiman Records, Globo TV, Telemundo, Venevision, Fonovideo, and Televisa among others. Very involved in the filmmaking community, Guimet has been serving as the Florida Chapter Director for the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) for the past four years. In June of 2006 she started Florida Media Market. Guimet received her Bachelor's degree in Film and Digital Production from the International Fine Arts College in Miami, FL. In 2007, Guimet was instrumental in the organization of the WIFF Women’s International Film Festival, deemed Best Film Festival of the year by the Miami New Times. She’s also a sought after speaker who’s served as a panelist at the Tampa Bay Film Forum, Orlando Film Festival, Delray Film Festival, Havana Film Festival(in NY), PR Newswire’s Hispanic Market.
